Salifest is a vibrant Community Music Festival for all ages and abilities.
We are coming together in the name of the late African musician & dancer Salif Sylla & Lewisham resident to celebrate our many cultures . We are joined by professional and amateur artists, community groups with music, dance, film, art work and craft making for children, food and stalls.
This year will have:
Music and dance performances by amateurs and professionals of all age groups in styles from Africa, Latin America, Caribbean and older and newer Western Pop;
Arts and crafts displays by Red Ribbon and Diamond Club;
Craft activity for children making musical instruments out of recycled items;
Workshops for all ages including children: African drum Vieux Bakayoko, Caribbean dance with Ripton Lindsay and Afro-Latin dance with Latin Communities (please book drum workshop on eventbrite due to limited numbers of drums)
Movement and music workshop with Tai Chi for elders;
With permission local graphic artist will take photos and mini films of the event.
We are here to connect communities of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to enjoy and learn from each other.
No need to book, it is free but appreciate any donations to make this event and our work possible.
